Terms
Last updated 29 September 2026
The short version. Nutrilogue estimates the nutrition in your meals from photos and turns your day into a score you can play against friends. The estimates are rough, roughly ±30%, and nothing in the app is medical advice. Play fair: ranked meals are camera photos of food you’re actually eating. You must be 13 or older. It’s a prerelease, so things will change.
That summary is here to be useful, not to be the agreement. The sections below are what actually governs.
1. Agreement
These Terms are a contract between you and Blacktop Social LLC (“Blacktop Social,” “we,” “us”) for your use of the Nutrilogue app and its services (“Nutrilogue”). By using Nutrilogue, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use it.
The Nutrilogue Privacy Policy is part of these Terms. If you got Nutrilogue through Apple, Apple’s standard terms for apps also apply. Apple isn’t responsible for Nutrilogue or for supporting it.
2. Prerelease and testing
Nutrilogue is in prerelease testing, through TestFlight. Features, scoring, rules, limits and names may change, and some things may break. We may change, pause or end the test at any time.
Test builds charge nothing. In a test build, the Pro screen may switch on Pro features with a test switch, and no money changes hands.
3. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old.
If you’re 13 to 17, Nutrilogue runs in teen mode:
- no weight
- no calorie numbers
- no weight-loss goal
- duels and leagues only with other teens
If you’re under 18, you may use Nutrilogue only with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
You need a real Apple or Google account, one Nutrilogue account per person. You must not be barred from using Nutrilogue under the laws that apply to you.
4. Not medical advice
Nutrilogue is a game about eating well, not a medical device.
- Estimates are rough. An AI estimates what’s on your plate from a photo or a description, and those estimates are roughly ±30%. It can misjudge the food, the portion, or the nutrients.
- Targets are general. Your targets come from general reference values, not from a clinician. Barcode data comes from a public database that may be incomplete.
- The score is a game. Your daily score is a game score, not a health assessment.
Don’t use Nutrilogue to make medical decisions. That includes allergies, medication or insulin doses, pregnancy, or a medical condition. It can’t tell you whether a food contains an allergen. Talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian before you change how you eat.
Nutrilogue never rewards eating less. A finished day under a minimum fuel level scores 40 at most, and no ranking uses calorie numbers.
If tracking food starts to feel stressful or all-consuming, or if you’re living with or recovering from an eating disorder, Nutrilogue may not be right for you. Please take a break and talk to a doctor or someone you trust.
5. Your account
You sign in with Apple or Google. Keep your phone and that account secure, because anyone who can open them can use your Nutrilogue.
Your display name starts as the first name your sign-in provider shares. Other players see it in duels and leagues. Don’t use a name that impersonates someone or is offensive.
You can delete your account at any time: Me → Delete my account. The Privacy Policy explains what that removes.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms.
6. Duels, leagues and fair play
Ranked meals count toward duels and leagues. A ranked meal is a photo you take with Nutrilogue’s own camera. Library photos, typed meals and barcode scans count for your streak and your personal score, but never for duels or leagues.
The rules the app enforces:
- A photo we’ve already seen from you is rejected. A near copy within 60 days is unranked.
- A meal that reaches us more than 2 hours after you took it is unranked.
- A ranked meal can be deleted only within 15 minutes of logging it, and not after its day is final.
- You can log up to 30 photo meals, and up to 10 typed or barcode meals, in any 24 hours.
- A duel runs 24 hours from when it’s accepted. An invite nobody accepts expires after 7 days.
- Leagues are weekly groups of up to 30 people in your age mode.
- Your portion setting never changes a ranked score.
Don’t cheat. That means don’t:
- photograph food you aren’t eating
- use someone else’s photos
- photograph screens or pictures
- reuse or edit photos
- automate logging
- run more than one account
- exploit a bug to move a score
If we believe you’ve cheated, we may remove you from duels or leagues, or suspend your account.
There are no prizes, money or anything of value at stake in duels or leagues.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload photos of people, nudity, or anything illegal. Nutrilogue is for photos of food and drink.
- use your display name or an invite link to harass anyone.
- copy, reverse engineer or scrape Nutrilogue or its server, or reach it by anything other than the app.
- probe, scan or test its security, or access anything you weren’t given, including other people’s data.
- interfere with how it runs, for example by flooding it with requests.
- use Nutrilogue to break a law or infringe anyone’s rights.
Good-faith security research is welcome. If you find something, tell us at legal@blacktop.social before telling anyone else, and don’t access or keep other people’s data while you look.
8. Barcode data from Open Food Facts
When you scan a barcode, Nutrilogue looks the product up in Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org), a free, collaborative database of food products. Its database is available under the Open Database License (ODbL), and its individual contents under the Database Contents License.
We keep lookups for up to 30 days. Product data comes from contributors and may be incomplete or wrong, so check the label. Open Food Facts isn’t affiliated with Nutrilogue and doesn’t endorse it.
9. What’s ours
Nutrilogue belongs to us or our licensors: the app, its code, design, scoring and writing, and the name “Nutrilogue”. Copyright, trademark and other laws protect it. We give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Nutrilogue for your own non-commercial use. You may not copy, sell or build on it, or train machine-learning models on it, without our written permission.
Your photos and what you type stay yours. You give us permission to process them only as the Privacy Policy describes: to estimate nutrition, run the game, and make the share cards you ask for. Nothing more.
10. Disclaimers
Nutrilogue is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We don’t warrant any of the following:
- that estimates, targets, scores, rankings or barcode data are accurate
- that Nutrilogue will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free
- that any feature will stay available
Some places don’t allow these exclusions, so parts of this may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither Blacktop Social nor anyone working with it will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages. That includes loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising out of Nutrilogue or these Terms, on any legal theory.
Our total liability for all claims relating to Nutrilogue or these Terms will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow to be limited.
12. Governing law
Talk to us first. If something’s wrong, email legal@blacktop.social and give us 30 days to sort it out.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that isn’t resolved informally will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you and we each consent to their jurisdiction. If you’re a consumer whose local law gives you the right to bring a claim locally or under your own law, this section doesn’t take that away.
Any claim relating to Nutrilogue must be brought within one year after it arises, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date above. If a change is material, we’ll say so here before it applies. If you keep using Nutrilogue after a change, you accept it.
